I chose the Ruff Ruff pocket diaper. This baby blue diaper has a puppy on the bum and even a little felt tongue sticking out!! Love it!
How It All Shakes Out
When All Is Said And Done: 4.7
Alright, so as far as cloth diapers go, this one only lacked a tiny bit in the night-time department, but as I've said MANY times, most diapers do. PUL just doesn't cut it in MOST situations for us and our heavy night-time wetter. But, I love this diaper so much that I didn't really want to leave the "rating" at a 4.5, so, for the first time in AoM (Adventures of Mommyhood) history, I gave a 4.7. Well deserved.
Here is a look at the cute pup that is featured on the bum!
So, for daytime, we used the large insert which snaps into the back of the pocket and it worked great. Night-time meant a little leaking--it worked pretty good, but microfiber just isn't the best option for us at night. Thus, the loss in a few points, but overall, we had a pretty decent night-time experience.
The leg gussets keep messes contained! This is still a majorly trim diaper, even if you double stuff. It's just a really well-designed diaper. They only cost $11.99 each and FREE shipping applies to every order. How cool is that? For THAT price, these diapers are AMAZING! I'd buy a starter stash of these if I had it to do over. Compared to some brands recommended that are cheap in price, these diapers still maintain quality.
The customer service at Baby Babu gets a 100% satisfaction stamp from me, Joe was wonderful to work with and is so generous and friendly! And, make sure to tell the folks at Baby Babu THANK YOU!!
My husband uses this diaper a lot. It ACTUALLY does agitate out of the diaper when you wash it. These two factors make Ease-Of-Use a no-brainer for me. If it passes the husband test, it is generally quite easy to use. But, the mere fact that is does what it is supposed to makes me smile! The pocket is generously spaced for stuffing but also keeps the inserts IN. It has 2 pocket openings and 3 layers to each microfiber insert. The diaper is rated 8-35 lbs, and I will update (especially if someone reminds me!) when Bug hits 35 lbs., but right now I think he will make it to 30 for sure, he's pretty bulky so we may not see the full 35. Baby Babu also features many great informative tabs on their website, featuring topics such as "How to get rid of ammonia smells" to "cloth diaper history lesson!"
When all is said and done, my overall opinion of this diaper is VERY HIGH! I would not hesitate to buy multiple diapers of Baby Babu brand, use them at daycare and with babysitters (including dads and grandparents!), and if you have a lighter wetter, I'd use them at night too! They didn't work for us at night, but we have an exceptionally heavy wetter and only SUPER (like 2") thick multi-layer inserts or fitteds with wool covers have been working for my dude. There are SO MANY prints and patterns to choose from, you could easily have a super cute stash of Baby Babu's. The customer service alone is amazing and reason enough to go with this brand. It's a small business, US-owned, and really experienced in diapering (the owners have twins). Especially if you are new to cloth, this would be an excellent way to try it out! I'm in love with the leg gussets too. This is not super thick PUL, my baby is about 27 pounds and probably has a few months left in these dipes.
