Chicken Soup for the Soul - Say Hello to A Better Body

I just read 3 Chicken Soup for the Soul books that were not as timely for me as the last ones that I had read, but what I liked is that in EVERY Chicken Soup book I can find at least one take away message!  I cannot wait to dig into some more of this great series! I had kind of forgotten about them, since the release of Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul II -- back in the nineties maybe? It's been a while, but I'm glad I rekindled my love of reading and am learning a few things along the way!!

You can enjoy them too, here is a bit about the books and where to get 'em! Tell your friends to visit my blog, become part of the Adventures of Mommyhood fun, and the more traffic I get visiting will allow me to do some fun giveaways for these great books, and, the more chances you'll have to win!

From the Publisher:

"It can be hard for women over 50 to lose weight and stay fit. Bodies change and old strategies don’t seem to work anymore. But readers can find encouragement and practical advice in this new book that combines inspiring Chicken Soup for the Soul stories written just for this book and accessible leading-edge medical information from Harvard Medical school assistant professor and weight management specialist Dr. Suzanne Koven."

Now, obviously, I'm not over 50--not even close. But, there are great tips and ideas to keep in mind no matter what age you are. And, it's NEVER too late to start getting in better shape! I heard a great quote that pertains to exercise: "A year from now, I will wish I had started yesterday!" So, do it! Read this and start, post haste!

You can get your own from Amazon. I recommend it to any woman who wants to read about how to better her life, body and soul! Enjoy!

The next great Chicken Soup book that I had the pleasure of reading is Chicken Soup for the Soul: Messages From Heaven

From the Publisher:

"The 101 true and miraculous stories in this book of signs and messages from beyond show that death may take away the physical presence of our loved ones, but not their spirit. This book is for everyone, religious or secular, as regular people share their amazing experiences with the other side."

I really like these kinds of "it happened to me" kind of intuitive stories where the people involved just know it was a message from a loved one. They make you feel good inside, cheesy as that sounds. Plus, the stories are really short, so this book is an easy page-turner or great for when you only have a few moments to steal away.

Buy a copy of your own from Amazon. You'll like it no matter what age you are if these kinds of stories delight you as they do me.

Lastly for the month, I read Chicken Soup for the Soul: Say Goodbye to Back Pain!: How to Handle Flare-Ups, Injuries, and Everyday Back Health.

From the Publisher:

"Almost everyone experiences back pain at some point in their lives. Many people suffer far more than they need to and are looking for help. This book offers that help, combining inspiring and comforting Chicken Soup for the Soul stories written just for this book and accessible leading-edge medical advice from noted physical medicine and rehabilitation expert Dr. Julie Silver of Harvard Medical School."

It worried me a little that I was identifying with what I would normally call "old person topics" - but, motherhood has shed light on many things for me, one of the main ones being my body's cues about things that hurt, being out of shape (which causes a lot of my back pains) and preventative measures for pains. I soon realized this book was anything BUT "just for old folks" -- it can be applied to anyone's life and those who do pay attention to it are probably popping fewer pain relievers for it!

All of the Chicken Soup for the Soul seried enjoyed from Amazon or from your local friendly bookseller! These are also great books to sit down and read as a family or aloud to a kiddo!
